We had a fantastic year at First Contact raising money for some inspirational charitable causes. From joining in the MacMillan coffee morning to raising money for Toma Fund, we enjoy every second! We always do our best to join in every charity day, because we understand the importance of these days to raise as much money as possible, and not to mention First Contact’s passion to get stuck into a themed day!
Charities we got involved with in 2017:
Along with dressing up and baking cakes, this year First Contact has been involved with various charities outside the workplace. Back in September, we took part in a charity football match in aid of Josh’s Journey’s. First Contact took on Hylton Rangers, and after a controversial disallowed offside goal from Jordan Jefferson (First Contact) the full-time result was 2-1 to First Contact. There was a post-match raffle, food and live singing which topped off a fantastic day. This was a great event with an incredible turnout which raised around £1,700 for the charity.
First Contact didn’t stop there in September, as the management team attended the Hilton Glasgow annual foundation ball. Neil Wilson was a part of the board which decided which charities would receive funds from a £25,000 pot, all to help aid projects supporting local young people aged 0-25. The night was a huge success with a huge amount of additional money raised, which were given to charities like Action for Children and NSPCC in Scotland.
Because of First Contact’s passion to raise money for great causes, we have decided to set ourselves a challenge for 2018. We want to raise £500 in 3 months for a charity chosen by our people. What will we do? Well, this can range into a whole load of things, and we would love everyone to get stuck in with ideas! From a big charitable event or lots of little tasks – you can decide. Pop us an email here, noting a charity you would like to raise money for and why, and any ideas you may have on how to do so. We are super excited to see the response, and even more eager to crack on with raising the money!
